There are some DOS programs which requires some windows config settings to be changed for them to work properly. Mostly old computers have Windows 98 or Windows ME which by default used config.sys to read these settings. But the version of Windows released after Windows ME did not had config.sys file.
Thus most of the people had to unwillingly stick with old version of windows if their software making company did not released new version of their software for the next version of windows.
What we are actually doing is locating different windows config files in different OS. Suppose if you to change the below setting in the windows config file, below are the different locations & different file names for different Operating Systems:
| Windows Version | Filename | Location (Default windows directory location assumed as c:\windows\) |
| 98, ME | config.sys | c:\windows\ |
| 2000, Xp, Vista | config.nt | c:\windows\system32\ |
To edit these files, restart your system & keep pressing F5 in windows 98 or F8 key in Windows 2000 or later. Then select ‘Command Prompt or ‘Safe Mode with Command Prompt’. Now you will see a DOS screen. Type the below commands:
For windows 98, ME
cd\windows
edit config.sys
For Windows 2000, XP, Vista
cd\windows\system32
edit config.nt
A notepad like editor will open edit the settings you need to change & then save it & shut down the computer. Wait for 30 seconds and then turn it back on. Now you have successfully edited the config file of windows & you can use some of the old DOS software’s on newer version of Windows.

Polaroid has recently launched an Instant Pocket Printer called Polaroid Pogo. The small device can print the photos from a Pict-bridge enabled digital camera, without the need for a PC and the results will be available in less than 60 seconds.
It prints small 2? x 3? prints which are small enough and looks good on resolution provided by most camera phones. The Pogo is very lightweight and is wireless as well as inkless. You can even print directly from your cellphone using Bluetooth. It uses Zink Photo Paper which is covered in heat-activated crystals hence inkless. The photos are also water-proof, tear-proof and smear-proof. The printer can work with both with a battery and a charging cable.
It is priced at $150 and the cost of the paper is $10 for 30 sheets. Overall a good gadget to have while travelling.

for feedback or suggestion mail us at ch3micalx@gmail.comSarkar Raj was one of the most awaited movies of 2008 and a grand Premiere was organized at IIFA Bangkok, so one was expecting the stars to walk the ‘Green Carpet’ but the star turnout was quite poor. Kareena who is already in Bangkok skipped the Premiere despite the fact that her dad and Uncle Rajiv Kapoor attended the Premiere. Karan Johar, Apoorva Lakhia, Shabana and Javed Akhtar were the only few famous face who showed up for the Premiere, the only consolation for the Bachchans was the fact that the movie received great reviews. |
