In preparation for the D Conference, an annual event hosted by the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft has revealed some new information about the operating system through its bloggers, as well as the first official video demoing Windows 7.

The video covers Windows 7’s Multitouch capabilities in various applications; with Multitouch the touch-screen is capable of recognizing multiple, simultaneous touches, similar to Microsoft Surface but on a smaller scale. The first laptop to be shown featuring this technology is demoed in the video and will also be shown by Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer during the conference.

Chris Flores, director of Windows Client Communications, blogged about the upcoming operating system’s kernel. Contrary to rumors, Chris says, Windows 7 will not be using a new kernel. Instead the Windows Vista kernel will be refined and reused. One of the major design goals is for the kernel not to become bloated but rather “run on the recommended hardware we specified for Windows Vista and that the applications and devices that work with Windows Vista will be compatible with Windows,” wrote Chris.

Chris also confirmed that Windows 7 is on track and expected to be released in approximately three years from the general availability of Windows Vista. He also added that beta releases are upcoming.

Vidya Balan grooves on the sets of ‘Kismet Konnection’ , Mumbai She is a traditional dancer but when it comes to western dance Vidya has two left feet. While shooting a promotional video for the forthcoming movie Kismat Konnection in Film City Vidya had a tough time learning the steps, choreographer Ahmed Khan was irked but Shahid asked him to keep his cool. Vidya looked gorgeous in black leggings and a revealing top, but the actress simple couldn’t match steps with her co-star Shahid. Shabina Khan designed Shahid’s look in the song and he looked hot in a pair of grey pants and a stain shirt, the blue tie was very striking, he completely looked. Vidya and Shahid share a great chemistry and the couple made it a point to stay away from each other on the sets as the media was present, but sure could feel the ‘Konnection’.

Television’s blue-eyed boy and the latest entrant in B-town, Rajeev Khandelwal is basking in all the adulation that he has been receiving for his performance in his debut film Aamir. The film, which opened last week, has received rave reviews and unanimous praise from anyone and everyone who has seen it.

However, not one to rest on his past laurels, Rajeev has already signed his second film with UTV Spot boy (the same production house that produced Aamir). The film is a love story titled Peter Gaya Kaam Se and is directed by India based British filmmaker John Owen. Rajeev to get some more details on the same. “Yes, my second film is a love story set in Goa. The film is titled Peter Gaya Kaam Se and I play the role of Peter. My character is that of a taxi bike rider. These are people who drive tourists on their bikes in and around Goa. It’s quite a common sight to see such taxi bike riders in Goa and I play one of them. We plan to shoot in Goa after the monsoons sometime in August”, says the talented actor

We also quizzed him on his co-star in the film. “Well…the female lead is yet to be finalized. It’s not yet certain if it would be a fresh face or a known name. However, I would like a fresh face since it brings in a fresh chemistry. But the decision stays with my producer and director.”

Let me come to the point right away. The much-hyped, keenly-anticipated SARKAR RAJ hasn’t taken the domestic box-office by storm, except in a few circuits. As pointed out in the ‘B.O. Update’, the film didn’t open to the desired response. And this did catch a lot of people by surprise. In fact, the not-as-expected opening of SARKAR RAJ was the topic of discussion at the IIFA weekend in Bangkok.

In view of the fact that SARKAR had fetched an excellent start, one expected SARKAR RAJ to open equally well, somewhere in the 90% + range. While recording an interview with Priyadarshan and Akshaye Khanna [I pulled off a mini coup by bringing the two media-shy personalities to talk on camera], Priyan made a valid observation when I enquired why he attempted comedies again and again.

“60% of the movie-going audience comprise of youth who tilt towards light entertainers and romantic-musicals, followed by the family segment. Serious fares enjoy limited patronage these days,” Priyan remarked. I endorse this viewpoint. Could be one of the reasons why SARKAR RAJ didn’t open to packed houses.

The response to SARKAR RAJ at big centres [multiplexes] was heartening till Sunday, but Monday onwards, a drastic fall was witnessed everywhere. Single screens and smaller centres were down on Day 1 itself.

So what’s the final status? Two things! One, Mumbai-Maharashtra and South belt should earn profits. In other circuits, it would swing between average and losing. Two, the price factor [it has been sold for huge prices] would be a deterrent. There’s an old saying in the industry, which holds true in this case at least: It’s not the film that fails, it’s the price that fails!

With SARKAR RAJ on one hand and heavy rains lashing various parts of the country on the other, AAMIR faced the heat at the ticket window. Everyone who watched the film couldn’t stop raving about it, but the lavish praises didn’t translate into great collections. Now that’s truly unfortunate!

At least AAMIR won critical acclaim, HUMSEY HAI JAHAAN never won any acclaim from both, the critics as also the moviegoers. In this case, the collections were in hundreds, no even thousands. Knowing the mindset of the exhibitors, this film wouldn’t be complete even a 1-week run at the ticket window at several screens.

The Baadshah of Bollywood has managed to bring one of Bollywood’s hottest couples on his game show. Yes we are talking about none other than Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor who will be seen playing Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai with Shah Rukh Khan and his bunch of kids.

The episode which is going to be telecast this Saturday (June 14th ) at 8 pm IST promises to be a complete riot. To start with Saif Ali Khan opens the game as the host and invites Shah Rukh Khan as a contestant to play. Shah Rukh enters with Kareena Kapoor, hand in hand, and announces that as Saif has taken over his show, he has stolen Saif’s girlfriend. Bebo AKA Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan

His former wife Amrita Singh complained on how Saif always wanted her to dress in ethnic clothes, Rozza too faced the same issue as he expected her to be covered up all the time and now its Kareena’s turn to put up with that. Sources reveal that for her IIFA performance Kareena was to wear a very revealing outfit and Saif was not too happy about the fact.

Saif insisted Bebo to do a costume change as designer Manish Malhotra was right there but Kareena refused to change things at the last minute. Bebo was happy with the look that Manish had designed for her and wanted to stick with it but Saif insisted, Bebo’s mom Babita was there in the van too and she tried to calm down the hot headed Saif.

Even when Kareena was performing on the stage Saif didn’t look too happy, guests at IIFA revealed that Saif left the show despite Bebo requesting him to stay with her till her special moment of receiving the award arrives. However, Kareena didn’t care about Saif’s early exit and she was rocking the stage as Bebo is Bindaas and she has all the Tashan too.

Shahid Kapoor may have a million fans but the actor simply adores Justin Timberlake so much so that while shooting for ‘Kismat Konnection’ in Canada he made sure to attend Justin’s concert. When Shahid learnt that Justin was giving a live performance he got tickets for the entire unit of ‘Kismat Konnection’ and took them for the concert in Canada. Shahid admires the way Justin grooves and after seeing the concert he was so inspired that he requested director Aziz Mirza to have a track in the movie where he could dance like Justin.

Shahid admits that he is a huge Timberlake fan and knows all his songs by heart; he also says that Justin was the inspiration behind the song ‘Aye Papi’. Shahid asked his good friend choreographer Ahmed Khan to give him steps which were to that of Justin Timberlake. Shahid says that the song has his favorite one and his fans will love it too now I can’t wait too see if Shahid gets the ‘sexy back’ just like Justin.
