Movie: Singh is King; Cast: Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Javed Jaffrey, Ranvir Shorey, Sonu Sood, Om Puri, Neha Dhupia; Director: Anees Bazmee; You MUST leave your brains behind before you enter the hall to watch this film. This film is lavinsh and grand in scale but not in content. If you enjoyed Welcome, the you will relish this film. The scenes jump so quickly that you have no time to apply any logic. Its about AK being asked to go to get his brother [Sonu Sood] from Australia who is an underworld king. Thrown in is a love story too. Incidents take place and AK becomes the King, and he inturn turns all bad into evil. The film have its doses of laughter in the first half. In the second half the film gets more dramatic and emotional but also goes up in laughter. AK as Happy Singh is perfect. Katrina is delicious in looks, not acting. Neha is convincing. Kirron is awesome. Sonu S is wasted sitting in the wheelchair. Om Puri is alright. Ranvir is great. The rest of the cast- Javed, Yashpal, Sudhanshu etc do make you laugh. Wish this was as grand in content as it was been promoted to be. This SINGH was NO KING for me.
Anees Bazmee’s films are very high on entertainment. The plotline may be paper-thin, perhaps ludicrous and farcical, but when did Bazmee ever promise a SCHINDLER’S LIST or a SAVING PRIVATE RYAN? SINGH IS KINNG works because it delivers what it promises: Full on entertainment!

The songs are all forced in and it is clearly visible. The connections in the scenes are so loose. Things happen so fast and you start wondering, what next?!

On the whole, SINGH IS KINNG lives up to the hype and hoopla. Want a joyride without taxing your brains? Board the SINGH IS KINNG wagon. At the box-office, the film will fetch a hurricane-like start. The paid previews, the opening weekend, the first week business, everything will be record-shattering. Notwithstanding the new oppositions in the weeks to come, SINGH IS KINNG will rule the hearts of the aam junta [whose verdict matters the most] as also the box-office, proving a record holder in the final tally. Blockbuster Hit!
