After enacting a key role in DHAN DHANA DHAN GOAL last year, Boman Irani had a relatively low profile beginning to 2008. While he was busy hosting the Quiz show BOLLYWOOD KA BOSS, there were not too many films where he was seen in months gone by. Then came LOVE STORY 2050 in the middle of the year which was a box office disaster while his guest appearance in KISMAT KONNECTION proved to be one of the weak links of the story.
However, if one looks at the current season, Boman has been pretty much visible with a release a week for an entire month. If he was simply a riot as a Fashion magnate in DOSTANA last week, the current week sees him as a typical Subhash Ghai character in YUVVRAAJ.
Well, Boman won’t be stopping here as the coming weekend would see him as a father of Sanjay Suri and Shaman Joshi in SORRY BHAI. The film sees him in, what could well be termed as, a normal role. His pairing with Shabana Azmi and the camarederie that he shares with her is bound to be noticed, especially after HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD. where the two were seen last. A week later, he would return as a lawyer in MAHARATHI where he would be having veteran actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal and Om Puri for company.
With 2008 ending on such a high, 2009 too would see a lot of Boman Irani with films like ‘99′, BANDA YEH BINDAAS HAI, FRUIT AND NUT, TEEN PATTI and THREE IDIOTS arriving month after month.
Just about a year back, a good–looking and already successful model from down south made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan, in his home banner production, OM SHANTI OM. Obviously we are talking about Deepika Padukone, the most sought after newcomer in town with a host of prestigious banner under her wings, after the blockbuster success of her debut film.
Cut to end 2008, another good–looking and successful model from Bangalore, Anushka Sharma, is all set to make her debut yet again, opposite King Khan with the December 12 release, Yash Raj’s Aditya Chopra directed RAB NE BANA DI JODI. So, apart from debuting opposite Shah Rukh Khan and coming from the southern part of India, what’s common to Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma?
Well, there is! Both of them were spotted by designer Wendell Rodricks, during fashion events. Wendell first saw Anushka walking for a small show at a jeans store in Bangalore. Wendell could sense the potential in her and took her to Bombay, where he made her the show–stopper in his Les Vamps show, at the Lakme India Fashion Week. Similarly, it was Wendell who spotted the talent in Deepika Padukone and was largely responsible for her successful stint as a model and her moving down to Bombay.
Here’s wishing Anushka the same success and stardom that Deepika met with after her debut film. And with such a prestigious banner like Yash Raj Films and a dream debut opposite Bollywood’s global superstar Shah Rukh Khan, this is not just wishful thinking!

Rani Mukherjee could very well be considered the only actress in B-Town who threw it all away when she was right there at the top.
She was a fine actress with great screen presence. Then what went wrong? The biggest mistake this hazel eyed beauty made was that she confined herself to her favourite Yash Raj camp.
Now she’s in the desperate need of a comeback film and she’s doing everything for it. In her new film ‘Haddipa’ with the younger Shahid Kapur, she plays a cricket lover who dresses up as a man to get into a team
She’s been sporting a beard throughout the film.
Reportedly this is the only film she has and will be her only release in 2009. No wonder the once upon of a time ‘Rani’ of our hearts is scared.
The buzz is that Rani is not glad with the first rushes of the film and has asked her dear Adi to look into it and help the director of the film, Anurag Singh.
In fact her behaviour has been high-handed too.
Rumour has it that she’s even been calling the shots and even teaching senior actors how to act.
She already has made enemies out of friends in the past. Wonder what Shahid who considered her one of the best actresses in the industry has been thinking of late!
Rumour has it that director Subhash Ghai is planning to remake his 80s big hit ‘Hero’ and he wants none other than Salman Khan for the lead role.
A close source has said, “Yes, Subhash ji is planning to remake ‘Hero’ and has already thought about the actors. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are his first choice of lead role.
Salman will play Jackie Shroff and Katrina the role of Meenakshi Sheshadri. The new ‘Hero’ will be different from the original and will be made for the audience now and will be an up-to-date version.
Subhash ji is planning to shoot the film after ‘Yuvvraaj’ releases at an overseas location and hopes to complete it within 90 days, so that he can release it for end of 2009.”
Salman Khan himself has also reportedly talked about it, “I had heard two three scripts before ‘Yuvvraaj’. The scripts were good but I couldn’t play those characters. I wanted him to make ‘Hero’ with me but Subhash ji said we would make it later. Then he came up with ‘Yuvvraaj’.”

The world knows that Saif Ali Khan is madly in love and very serious about his current girlfriend of a year, Kareena Kapoor. He’s reportedly said, “Yes, Kareena has been invited to Pataudi. It’d have been earlier, but it was too hot. Winter is when our family reunions happen every year and Kareena is now part of the family. My parents are extremely fond of Kareena.” He adds, “This relationship is ‘IT’ for me. Today I feel very settled and very happy, though a bit lonely. And when I’ve bad days, I feel I’m being ungrateful. I’m now looking forward to settling down with Kareena. Our marriage will happen very shortly as soon as we both have a little less work on hand and we can give the marriage quality time. Also, her family has to be ready for our marriage.”
“We’re very close. She has been really gracious in inviting me into her family. She’s made sure I’m part of her family. I’ve also met Daboo uncle (Randhir) a few times, shared friendly drinks with him.
As for Karisma, I think she’s the sweetest girl ever in the world. I’m deeply fond of both Karisma and her husband Sanjay (Kapoor). They’re truly wonderful people. Kareena’s family has taken to me as warmly as my family has taken to her.”

After leaving fans spellbound with their retro avatar in ‘Dhoom-2′, the classic pair of ‘Jodha Akbar‘, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, are yet again gearing up to work opposite each other, and the latest buzz is that the duo has signed their 3rd project together which will be directed by the maverick filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Post ‘Saawariya’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali decided to take a break prior to commencing his next project; the director is now ready to work on his next ‘Heera Mandi’, and Sanjay was keen to cast Hrithik Roshan and Ashwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead.
Based on industry insiders, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has brought the rights to the book ‘A Sudden Visit to Pakistan: Heera Mandi the Dream Home of the Whores’ written by Mayank Austen Soofi which came with a steep price tag. The lead stars Hrithik and Aishwarya will be joined by eight leading ladies and six male stars of Bollywood.
Sources close to the director have revealed that Hrithik has already signed the movie and Bhansali is confident that Ash will get on board too.
Long before Katrina Kaif even went near a Cello, Himesh Reshamiya had Minisha Lamba stroke the musical instrument lovingly with his expert hands guiding her.
Now that YUVVRAAJ is being released, news is all over saying how Katrina had to master the art of handling the Cello. Some papers even went to the extent of saying that she actually learnt to play the musical instrument. How very embarrassing for the actress. Sorry Kat, this time Minissha has had you. And no, she’s not making a big fuss about it. Why should she? She has already made a statement with her hot avatar in KIDNAP. And guys are still having sleepless nights!
